Research Interests
Throughout my scientific career, I have been interested in how learning and memory are encoded by long-lasting changes in synaptic connectivity and neuronal excitability—long-term synaptic plasticity and intrinsic plasticity, and how these mechanisms go awry in neurological conditions. In the Bear lab, I am currently investigating the synaptic and circuit mechanisms of recovery of sight in primary visual cortex, which will allow us to find new and better treatments for human amblyopia.
